Bryan L. Oliver
Bryan has had a long and hard-earned journey that brought him to the point of opening his own law firm. He is originally from Kansas City, Missouri, and the youngest of his siblings. He has been a longtime Kansas City Chiefs fan, as far back as the Elvis Grbac and Derrick Thomas days. He remains a Chief fan first and Patrick Mahomes fan second.
In 2011, Bryan joined the Army Infantry. His first duty station was Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He was rifleman, RTO, and VC over his four years with C Co, 4-17th Infantry Battalion, 1-1 AD. Bryan is a combat veteran who served in Afghanistan from 2012 to 2013. He spent another six years in the Army Reserves as a Civil Affairs Specialist. With over a decade of military service, he is dedicated to helping those who served our Country just as he and his fellow servicemembers did.
While on active duty, Bryan earned his associates degree at El Paso Community College and graduated with high honors in Criminal Justice. While in the Army Reserves, he received his bachelors degree in criminal justice with high honors from the University of Texas at El Paso. He returned to his home state to pursue his law degree at the University of Missouri.
In Law School, Bryan served as the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Dispute Resolution which is a nationally recognized law journal. He also earned the honor of Order of the Barristers which is national recognized legal organization that honors those who display exceptional skills in oral advocacy and brief writing. He won awards for his brief writing skills numerous times and was recognized just as many times for his oral advocacy skills. As a law clerk for the Missouri Attorney General’s Office he authored several briefs that were filed in each Missouri appellate court and the Supreme Court of Missouri.
Bryan went on to teach appellate advocacy at the University of Missouri School of Law immediately after graduation. He earned the student bestowed award of Board of Advocates Faculty Excellence Award. He also served as law clerk for a Judge on Court of Appeals of Missouri-Western District. He wrote several bench briefs and appellate opinions that were published by the Court.
Bryan went on to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Texas. As an AUSA, he handled hundreds of cases involving immigration, human trafficking, gun possession and trafficking, and drug possession and trafficking. He is no stranger to contested hearings. From suppression hearings to trial to appeals, Bryan has done it all.
